South Africa


This exclusive use Grand Safari tented camp is designed and developed in southern Africa to primarily afford big groups of 40 - 200 persons, access into prime wilderness locations in southern Africa. Hayward's unique proposition brings such groups of VIP's, Celebrities, Business Tycoons and International Corporations into one on one colloborative safari events with land custodians thereby paving the way for future eco tourism development programs.

Need to Know

Each and every Hayward's Grand Safari Camp is set up off the grid and run along the strictest of guidelines. All waste (including sewage) is removed off site and taken to a registered sorting dump for processing. All water is borehole in nature, and camps are inspected by Environmental Impact Officers before departure. Our camp sites leave no trace of our event at all.


Wildlife interaction with game drives, guided walks, specialist wildlife programs under the auspices of the Land Custodian, horse back, camel back, elephant back, canoeing, cycling, fishing, paleontology, archeology, stargazing, hot air ballooning, photography. Maximum 16 guests on any activity. Groups of 200 are split in specialist interest groups for the various activities on offer to ensure the essence of a private safari experience is not lost. All walking guides Big 5 Qualified Guides. All our activity specialists are from the local area we operate in, and are experts in their field, most are authors of books and trainers of others.

The temporary nature of Hayward's, maximise wildlife interventions as animals circulating their territory are always inquisitive to come and have a look at what Hayward's is all about. We've had herds of elephant visit the camp, prides of lion, buffalo, and even rhino walk through the middle of our camps. All animals have right of way, and guests work together with our superb guides to ensure animals are not panicked in any way.

Dining Facility - for multiple nights, the entire theme changes for each night in celebration of the Trade Routes of Africa. Fully stocked Bar, based on the client's pre-selected and preferred beverage list. Safari Club with a Cigar Lounge, Snooker tables, Cognac Bar and Library. Conference Facilities, Breakaway Rooms, Press Rooms, Board Rooms and Offices. Communication Centre / Reception- this is the Ops Office run by a full time Communications Officer, with satellite phones, Paramedic on standby. Safari Salon - pamper room for ladies. The Spice House Safari Spa - full aromatherapy facility with Bath House. Royal Suite - a VIP Honeymoon Tent. Equipment weighs over 400 tons and requires twenty 8 ton trucks to transport onto site - over 38'000 items on our stock sheets to provide a full camp at 5 star level (Graded by Tourism Grading Council of South Africa)


100 En-Suite Tented Bedrooms, sleeping 200 guests maximum in sharing accommodation PLUS a crew camp of up to 90 staff - depending on size of safari camp event required.

All year. Different locations in different regions have various seasons more suited for tented camping safaris and therefore are suggested for different months of the year.

Two to Four nights. Large product launch events in off the beaten track has seen Hayward's run back to back groups of 200 people at a time over 16 nights = 3200 bednights per event.

This depends on the location, number of people and extent of the event. We create special safari events and expeditions, based on the client's brief and expectations. Prices range from US$350 Bed & Breakfast per person per night sharing (at our HQ north of Pretoria) to US$2000 per person per night for mobile safari events across boarder in neighbouring countries.

Children PolicyChild Policy

In Big 5 Reserves, no children under 16. In Private Concessions, children under 16 are allowed - we provide supervision and will include activities to make it a fun filled experience for the little ones.
