Time + Tide (Norman Carr Walking Safaris)

The 'original safari company' - Norman Carr started walking safaris more than 60 years ago in the Luangwa Valley. Luwi, Nsolo, Kakuli and Mchenja camps are dotted along the beautiful Luwi River within walking distance of each other. We walk from camp to camp, spending a couple of nights in each camp to explore and experience the unique wonders of each area.

The thrill of tracking lions through early morning mists and exploring a wilderness unchanged for millennia is not to be missed. These camps are truly wild but still supremely comfortable.

Need to Know

Tiny remote camps with a very wild feel - but still extremely comfortable. Only 4 rooms each, award winning guides - a truly wild and authentic experience.

Walking from camp to camp, all day adventures to the wildest parts of the South Luanwga with the chance to sleep out under the stars No more than 4 or 6 on an activity, we are tracking big game on foot the way the hunters and pioneers of old used to do.

Wildlife HighlightsWildlife Highlights

Buffalo and lion are common along the Luwi River Valley. Leopard are heard most nights and seen almost as often. Wild dogs have denned between Luwi and Nsolo for the last 6 or 7 years. Caracal, serval, hartebeest, reedbuck - all species not seen regularly in any other part of the south park are regular visitors.
